Unfortunately, the virus that hit Travis last week remains around bringing a fever and cough. We took Travis to the Kids Care clinic on Sat for pink/red in the whites of his eyes. The doctor said it was a classic sign of adenovirus and we have a prescription if T's eyes get crusty. She also said to come back or talk to his pediatrician on Monday if he's still running a fever about the same time on Sunday when the medicine wears off.
Sunday evening the fever was back and a cough, so it was back to Kids Care. The doctor working last night was a former hockey coach of Barrett's, so nice to have some familiarity with the pediatrician. He ordered a chest x-ray and that fortunately came back clear (no pneumonia). We opted to not do labs and follow up with a phone call to T's pediatrician in this morning.
T woke up fever-free again this morning, but you could tell he didn't feel good by looking in his eyes (the white parts were white again like on Sat and Sun mornings). The nurse practitioner called me back to go over what happened this weekend. She was going to talk with the pediatrician and he called in the afternoon (about the time when I told the nurse practitioner T starts feeling worse in the afternoon). Today was true to the pattern over the weekend (returning fever and pink on the white part of his eyes). The pediatrician ordered blood work and lab work to check for viruses. We headed up to Primary's this afternoon and it took 2 "pokes" for the blood work and a not fun nasal swab. No donuts in the snack shop, so T picked Fruit Loops.
Praying he's feeling better in the morning than the last few mornings. He was pretty sick Tues evening, seemed to get better, then a little worse again (not as bad as Tues evening) and has hit a plateau. Maybe this bug is taking it's sweet time with Travis, but the candy night is coming soon and no kid should be sick for Trick-or-Treating.
I'm so sorry to hear T is sick again. Sara was sick last year, and after Boo at the Zoo ended up in urgent care with a major infection. Luckily she was able to stay out of the hospital and beat it at home. I will pray the same happens for T. Love you guys! Big hugs! Tell T his NF buddy misses him!
