We heard from the doctor on Thursday and Travis' rapamycin level is in the target range!!! :) He has to have another blood draw on Monday to have the 2 consecutive weeks of the blood level in the target range. His blood draws are typically on Fridays, but with Holiday closures on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve these two are on Mondays. He continues to do well with the increased rapamycin dose from the other week.
We head back to Salt Lake City again the first week of January with his end of course 2 appointment on Jan 7th. If the geneticist and orthopedist determine that the clamshell brace is in Travis' best interest, we may go by Shriners to have him measured during this trip. Wow...this course flew by!
We had a wonderful Christmas break that started by spending the weekend in Cody to watch Nolan's hockey games and up to Billings, Montana, to see friends. Christmas was a very special time for our family and we enjoyed being together at our house. Travis was thrilled that Santa brought him the "Cars Cars Garage Roller Coaster" that he wanted. Nolan and Barrett commented that it was the best Christmas so far. It was wonderful to listen to the kids looking through their stockings and seeing what Santa brought. You could hear the innocence and fun of the season as they were sharing their excitement. We spent most of this past week getting things done around the house when the weather was in the 50s and then watching the snow and wind move in with the arctic front that blew through. Early look at our travel weather next week is good. :)
December 29th was the year anniversary of Travis' first MRI and confirmation of the plexiform. We've learned so much over the past year and so thankful he has wonderful doctors and their staff, along with his physical therapists, to guide us along this journey. We are fortunate to have amazing friends and family for their help, prayers, and support.
We found out the other day that Travis was denied eligibility for Wyoming's Child Waiver for people with Developmental Disabilities. While that is a temporary setback for us, his case manager provided us with other options to pursue. I'm thinking we'll be working on that in 2011.
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year and while 2010 was a rough year at times, I know God has put Travis (and us) in the best hands for his given circumstances.
It has been a crazy year! We think of all of you often. Glad to hear your Christmas went well.
