Pokes, Donuts, and Princess Room...Oh My

Travis spent part of yesterday afternoon in the MRI tube, his 16th one since December 2009. As usual, he did great for the MRI with some apprehension/nerves on the drive to Primary's (luckily it's a 10 minute drive) and when we got in the room. Travis bravely faced another MRI and is glad to have another one behind him.

Travis picked out a donut with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles in the morning so he was guaranteed a donut. The ladies at Banbury Cross gave him a sprinkled donut hole since it was MRI day.
So many yummy donuts.
We spent the morning working on his homework and watching movies, then it was time to head to Primary Children's. The "Cars" room was in use by another patient, so we ended up in the Princess room (I am a little superstitious about the "Cars" room). To quote T, "This is the Princess room,"  yet there isn't a font for a bummed tone. Travis quickly asked for cars and was racing within minutes. :)

T wanted his stuffed animal cat to get an IV before T did, so she did...the nurses are great with those requests. Too bad that IV good luck didn't continue for T, this time around it took 3 pokes to get the IV in and not blow a vein. He holds super-still for the "pokes", yet it's happened with many different nurses. Ugh! He's so ready to not be sedated for MRIs, nobody can blame him.

Since he had the noon arrival time slot, it was no surprise that they were running a little more than an hour behind. By 2:10p Travis was sleeping in the MRI machine and the scans started. The scans finished a little more than an hour later and the staff brought Travis to recovery. He enjoyed his sleep, but finally woke up and started eating the Oreos and donuts we bought earlier in the day.

We continue to wait for updated clinical trial information from the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health. The doctor running the trial will be meeting with her staff this week regarding one of the clinical trials we are considering. Prayers for guidance as we make this decision again about possibly signing T up for a clinical trial and IF we decide to go clinical trial, which one. Thank you for joining us on this journey.
