Return to Weekly PT

Travis saw his physical therapist on Monday for a routine appointment. He was surprised to see how far Travis regressed in the past month given Travis' illness. The PT checked over T's legs and knees to see if there were any areas of concern. Travis didn't wince while being examined, so this led to the PT thinking it was weakness from being sick, including a lack of confidence and endurance. After getting sick, T's had a hard time walking even holding on to things, so he's also been taking his power chair to school again.

Mr. Mark (the physical therapist) was able to get Travis walking on his own some during Monday's appointment. Travis moved cautious and slow by himself, but he was able to move independently. Since the physical therapist knows T so well, he was able to motivate T by having a bike race around Shriners Hospital. They have a demo red adapted bike that Travis used and Mr. Mark was on the pink one.

Travis will return to weekly PT sessions to increase his endurance and independence. I'm hoping T's confidence will soar again soon and we can "graduate" time between PT sessions. It's a reminder of how things can change quickly and sometimes there are steps backwards in order to move forward. Here we go again...

Travis wanted to use his walker at school this morning, he prefers that independence. By the time we were a few cars away from ours, you could tell he was hurting/not comfortable/wanted his power chair. He had tears in his eyes and didn't want me to leave school this morning, he's working through something...so we're working through something. He felt pretty good when I picked him up this afternoon. Thankfully the weather's been nice recently, today was no exception. T rode his bike in the parking lot up the street, we helped him up and down the hill. If he keeps working hard, he may be able to take his walker to school on Friday. Prayerfully so.
