Orthopedic Team Appointment and Dosage Change

Travis enjoyed seeing his orthopedic guy, Mike Pond, at today's appointment. They both enjoy joking around with each other during the appointment. Functionally, Travis looks good given his tumor load and weakness on the left side. Mike was glad to hear that Travis has a walker and has used it lots, and that T has the power chair to use when walking is hard. Travis tolerated the physical exam and did great for the x-ray.
Travis getting the x-ray on the floor...see below.
No change from the current plan to keep Travis as mobile as possible for as long as possible. Travis will see the team again in 6 months, or earlier if anything happens. The long-term plan remains the same, probably address the knee issue around the age of 10 and the leg length discrepancy around 12. Neither of these are set in stone, just a basic plan that we've known about since we started seeing them 3 years ago.

Dr. Santora came in to see Travis as well, he's been in a few appointments before and also reviews Travis' case. He noticed T's lift on his shoe and commented that they do have another option if things necessitate a larger lift. Basically, they would brace Travis' right leg like his left and add a prosthetic with a foot below the brace. This would allow for adjustments to be made with the prosthetic rod. They have had success with this option in other patients. If Travis wanted to try it, they would have started that process today, T said no thank you.

The x-ray picture...the ortho team wanted to get a picture from Travis' hip to ankles. The x-ray machine needed more distance to take the picture than T being on the table (these are usually done standing and can get more room). Easy solution, put T on the floor. Travis' leg length discrepancy as measured by x-ray is ~6.5 cm.

Dr. Viskochil called Wednesday and Travis' rapamycin level was a little higher than the target range. He wanted to slightly reduce Travis' rapamycin dosing to 1.8 ml (down from 1.9 ml). Thank you for the extra thoughts and prayers for Travis and our family this week.
