The Good and Not as Good

Great news! Travis' rapamycin level was in range! :) When T was on the clinical trial, it took a while to find the right dose of rapamycin for the target range, thus all the blood draws. We hit it the first time around! YES!!!

Unfortunately the blood work last week showed high triglycerides. :(  This is one of the side effects of rapamycin, and we've been on this path before. The plan is to do a 3 day food diary for the days right before T's next appointment with Dr. Viskochil, April 2nd. These 3 days would include Easter, thinking we have enough time to get the word to the Easter Bunny. ;)

Tonight when I was brushing Travis' teeth, he said his mouth hurt. Sure enough, he has a mouth sore on his lower left side on the inside of his cheek. :(  We put Magic Mouthwash on the mouth sore and hopefully he's on the road to healing. I think we caught this one early.

All went pretty good with Travis' IEP meeting on Friday. It was good to hear during the meeting that Travis knows some things, but the difficulty arises when asked to put things on paper. Most of the time his writing or drawing is illegible; however, T can describe what he wrote or drew, even later in the day. His report card last week also showed what we already knew, he still has difficulty with writing and spatial processing areas. The good news is that with intervention/help, he is at grade level in those areas. For me that indicates that it is a good idea for us to move forward with exploring Assistive Technology options, at least see what is available for T. We have some software on 30 day loan from a program in Utah.

Thank you for the continued thoughts, prayers, and support. He is excited for warmer weather, the rest of us are too!
