Moving Forward, One Step at a Time

Travis continues to feel better each day.  While he's not completely back to his usual self, he is back to playing cars most of the time.  Good news yesterday during the follow-up phone call with Travis' pediatrician, he feels Travis is doing great and there is not a need to bring T into his office.  :)  Travis' white blood cell count check will probably be "piggy-backed" on other blood draws that are done to close out T's time on the trial, saving a poke.  The geneticist and research coordinator are back in the office today and they will also take a look at Travis' labs from the hospital stay and the geneticist may recommend when he would like T's repeat draw.  We'll see...grand scheme of things, nothing too big.

I talked with Travis' insurance case manager today, she's such a helpful person, and she provided me with some details for Dr. Viskochil to include in his letter to our insurance for Travis.  If we decide to have Travis take the rapamycin under Dr. Viskochi's supervision, we need to have insurance approval.  If we get insurance approval, we are not committing to using the rapamycin under this new direction.  We're getting our paperwork in order if we decide to go that route.

Shriners called today and Travis' next "boot"/brace is ready.  :)  Travis will see the brace guys next Monday before his physical therapy appointment and then his PT will be able to help T adjust (if needed) to his new brace.  Travis hasn't walked much the past week due to his illness, but he has walked a few steps by himself.  The PT can also help with getting T mobile again.  Ha ha ha...I realized I typed T mobile (our cell phones are AT&T).  Some humor is always welcomed.

Barrett had a great 8th birthday on Sunday.  This has been quite a week, but we're regrouping and moving forward.  This a journey not only for T, but for our entire family and friends.  Thank you for joining and supporting us as we go together.  Thank you Vanitta for watching the boys yesterday so Scott and I could spend a few hours out of the house together.
