3rd Injection - New Plan Worked

Travis received his 3rd Peg-interferon injection mid-day Thursday, yes it happened at school. We adjusted the timing of the dose with the new plan in case the Tylenol and Ibuprofen didn't work so we would not chasing a high fever at 10pm. We chose to have Travis' injection right after he finishes lunch. Due to parent-student-teacher conferences the end of this week, the kids school day ended about 20 minutes after the shot. Long story short, the new plan worked!!!  :)  The highest fever was 100.0F and he looked great Thursday evening. He's a true Hero.

We used a room off the main office to do the injection and T wanted one of the staff to hold him when the actual shot time arrived. Thank you Deb! Travis doesn't move during the shots, but glad he voices his requests to help him. Who knows, he may feel like running away (a totally normal reaction) and this ensures he can't. That helps him, so I'm all for it. Travis ate part of his donut in the office (school was getting out in ~20 minutes) and wanted to get back to class to have fun in centers.

Travis finished his donut after school and his homework when we got home. About 2 hours after the shot, Travis took his ibuprofen and we all prayed this would work. T started feeling tired when we needed to drop Nolan off for his hockey game, we have a tournament in town this weekend. T played and rested when we got home. Fortunately his fever never increased over 100.0F when I checked him. After watching movie and resting, T felt better and wanted to eat dinner and play cars (that's our true gauge on how he feels).

T feeling great Thurs evening

Travis slept good Thursday night and went to school on Friday. :) His teacher stated she would not have known had we not told her. Friday afternoon T felt tired, yet he watched Barrett's hockey game and part of Nolan's game before we headed back home to rest. He even played with some of Barrett's teammates at the neighborhood elementary (where he will go next year) Friday evening. He is running a slight fever of 100.8F when I checked him a few minutes ago, but he's sleeping really good. I'll check him again a few more times tonight to make sure all remains good.

Thank you for the continued prayers. We will be rotating the Tylenol and Ibuprofen like we did today for quite a while. Whether it was that or his body getting used to the new medicine (I've heard from others the 3rd dose goes pretty good), we'll take it.
