Eight Simple Words

Eight simple words completely changed our family's life..."Can I talk to you about my son?" These were the words I asked Dr. Viskochil almost 3 years ago at the MOSTGENE conference in Denver. His reply, "Yes." This question and answer ultimately led our family to switching Travis' medical teams to doctors in Salt Lake City and our move to Utah. We are forever changed.

Sometimes you think it takes big words to get big changes, yet this simple question and answer led our family to where we need to be at this point in time. We are ever thankful to God for leading us to the doctors that are best for Travis and how He has guided our lives to get to this point, both through small actions (a baseball coach for Nolan and his friend) and large ones (the directed transfer for Scott's job). We miss our Cheyenne friends, yet He continues to show us that Salt Lake City is the right place for our family at this point in time in addition to Travis' medical care. Sometimes what seems so small, becomes something beyond anything you could ever imagine.

Today (May 17th) is World NF Awareness Day since the NF1 gene is located on chromosome 17. Life itself brings uncertainty, NF brings even more uncertainty into the picture. I rest knowing that we are doing everything we can for Travis and we are where we need to be for T's care. Thank you for taking this journey with us.
