We went to the research coordinator's office on Friday to pick up more rapamycin to get Travis through to the end of course 9. While we were there, we learned that T's rapamycin level was in range from his blood draw on June 24th! Yes!!! Praise God! :) That means his next blood draw comes when he has his MRI later this month for the end of course 9. He's pretty excited it's a long time between "pokes".
He did take a few steps in the research coordinator's office holding onto her desk while we were there. He took a few steps holding onto the chairs when we went to the Bees game a week ago Monday. However, something still must not feel right, outside of having a cast on, when he stands up. At times, he doesn't want to bear weight on his right leg either. We're not sure if something more is going on or it's part of having a cast.
At times Travis isn't slowed down much due to his cast and other times he's pretty frustrated (rightly so). Most of the past week he's wanted to sleep and nap in our bed in the basement. It has been pretty warm the past week, so having the cast and sleeping upstairs where it's warm may not be so comfortable. We've given him some ibuprofen and that helps.
His appointment at Shriners is Wednesday morning and hopefully his fracture will show signs of healing. This visit is not only a fracture follow-up, but one of his regular check-ups. The docs there will thoroughly check both legs and more x-rays are in store. Hopefully we'll hear good news and that he'll be able to wear his "boot/fish boot/brace" once again. I know he's looking forward to a regular bath too.
We spent the afternoon on the 4th of July at the Hogle Zoo, much nicer temperatures to be outside. He wasn't impressed by the animated dinosaurs, or the real animals for that matter, when we first got to the zoo. However, he had a great time watching the birds flying in for their show and the train ride. We didn't see penguins at the zoo and we're not sure if that is because they aren't there anymore, not where we went, or temporarily gone while they are constructing a new habitat at the zoo. We'll have to go back and find out more. :)
Thank you again for your prayers and support. As for the move, we are settling in our house and have most things unpacked. We have good neighbors and are meeting new friends.
