Travis' Friday Blood Draw

Travis had a regular blood draw last Friday, this one was for the end of course 8.  Can he really have completed 8 4-week courses of Rapamycin/Sirolimus?!?  Where did the time go?  He did great for the draw and yes, he got his donut.  ;)

The research coordinator is able to do the blood draws since we live right down the road from the hospital.  Good thing for her that Travis doesn't hold a grudge to those that give him "pokes".  He likes the research coordinator and I hope that that continues.  While she was getting blood for the regular check, she also drew blood for other research studies that we signed T up for last October.  She was able to get more blood for them to check his DNA (didn't get enough when we signed him up) and some blood to analyze since he has a current fracture.  She will send out his blood today and we should hear if he's still in range by the end of the week.

Travis continues to scoot and crawl to get around with his cast on.  He still doesn't want to walk, but we think he's being extra cautious on his leg to not hurt it again.  We don't think it hurts him when we get him to stand on 2 feet, but we're not 100% sure.  The x-rays at Shriners next week will give us more insight into that answer.  I've never seen Travis shake/tremble as much as he did the night of the fracture.  Poor guy.  He seems frustrated at times, rightly so, that he isn't able to do what he could before and has to depend on us so much.  He enjoys going for stroller rides and we keep things as "normal" as possible like before this happened.  He's such the trooper.

On a fun note, we took Travis and the boys to see "Cars 2" on Friday.  He loved the movie and was pretty captivated by it the whole time.  Travis had been looking forward to seeing that movie for quite awhile.  The days leading up to the movie he would ask if we were going to see the movie today and would be a little bummed since it wasn't out yet.  He also saw "Mr. Popper's Penguins" last week and laughed and laughed throughout the movie.  Jim Carrey's humor in a kid's movie takes your mind off what ails you.
