Travis continues to be such a trooper with his cast. He's had it on a little more than a week now and is doing great. He's made big improvements in getting around and even crawled up and down the stairs this afternoon. Go Travis! Late last week he figured out how to crawl and scoot around to get from room to room on the same floor. He also started to put his right leg down when we change him and leaning on us for support.
While he still does not want to walk, tonight he chose to put his left leg (cast leg) down when he was standing playing LEGOs. He's been pretty cautious with that leg, and rightly so, so this is a HUGE step (so to speak) for him. I'm hoping he'll figure out how to walk with the cast and he'll be so proud of what he accomplished. He still wants us to get him in/out of bed, chair at the table, etc.
He's made big strides already, but that's not really a surprise knowing Travis. He enjoys going for stroller rides around the neighborhood and making new friends. We have just under 2 weeks until he sees his team at Shriners and we'll know more after that visit.
This Friday he has a blood draw for the end of course 8. It's nice being in the same town with his doctors and research coordinator, that makes a few less steps and paperwork for me for the blood draws. We have his MRI scheduled for next month for the end of course 9. Wow...the time is really flying by.
We are settling in to our new city and Travis likes his "Sugar House". We went to see "Mr. Popper's Penguins" the other day and T loved the movie. It was a great diversion from having to get around with his cast. Now, we're getting ready for "Cars 2".
I'm glad to hear that he's starting to get around. Trust me, I know how hard it is to have a child that you have to lift into the car, bed, chairs, etc. I feel your pain...literally. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Sara is dying to see Cars 2 as well. Too bad we can't take them together. I was hoping to go this weekend, but looks like that may not be an option. She's going to be so mad at me! :(
