Great Volumetric MRI Analysis Results

I heard from the research coordinator today, we got great news.  The National Cancer Institute's volumetric analysis of Travis' MRI showed that the plexiform is stable!!!!  :)  Thank you God!

Stable plexiforms in kids typically means that the plexiform is growing at the same rate as the kid.  It is expected that the plexiform will grow as the kid grows.  Today's news is GREAT news since T's plexiform increased 33% in volume from Dec '09 to Jul '10...and Travis didn't grow 33% during that time.  He also stays on the clinical trial since we are no longer dealing with the plexiform increasing >=20%, the fast rate needed to qualify for this study.  The end point of this study for Travis was to slow down the plexiform growth and we appear to be there.  I was asked today if we knew if the stable result was due the rapamycin or the plexiform stopping on its own...we can't really say, but that doesn't matter to me since the important analysis (NCI's volumetric) showed that the plexiform is stable.

Our next trip to Salt Lake City will be at the end of April, the end of course 6.  Travis will see Dr. Viskochil, Mike Pond at Shriners, and have another MRI done while we are there.  The end of course 4 lab and blood work can be done here (Cheyenne) on Friday, March 4th.  We still need to send out the blood to check the rapamycin level; however, we have some boxes and pre-paid shipping kits at the house.  As long as thing look good in the lab work, he'll only have draws at the end of each 4 week course.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Travis and our family.  We appreciate all the prayers, thoughts, and concerns for us.  We are so thrilled with this news.  :)
