Today's Blood Draw

We found out the end of last week that Travis' trough levels were still below his target range.  He had his blood draw for last Friday done today since we were waiting on clarification to see if they would increase his dose again.  They didn't increase his dose, maybe giving the current dose another week to get into his system.  So, he had his blood draw for rapamycin target level done this morning.  In addition, the geneticist in Salt Lake City wanted to do a liver function test (that lab can be done in Cheyenne).  The CMP checks more things than the LFT, so that's why the latter was done.  T's pediatrician will send along those results to Salt Lake City.

Travis has been battling a cold for the past week.  Nothing too much, he's eating/drinking/playing/acting normally, just a cough now and then.  Since we were going to be in the pediatrician's office for today's blood draw, the geneticist thought it would be good to have T's pediatrician listen to his lungs and make sure all is good.  Yup...just a cold.  So much better to be safe than sorry, especially since T's immunity is being somewhat suppressed.  The rapamycin puts T at an increased risk for a type of pneumonia and he's on a preventative antibiotic that should help.

Actually, we took Barrett to the doctor on Saturday and it turns out he had Strep.  Fortunately, he was able to get a shot and was feeling much better by Saturday evening.  So far, it looks that B was the only one that got sick with strep.

The other news is that Travis qualified for a handicap placard.  We were able to pick those up at the DMV on Friday and have one for each vehicle.  He's getting too big to carry long distances and there are a few times where his stroller isn't the best option (like the time with the Avalanche last week).  It's a little disheartening knowing that your child qualifies as being handicapped; however, it's good that has some helpful resources available.

We'll hear later this week the results of today's blood draw and when he should have another one.  Travis, my mom, and I will be heading back to Salt Lake City the end of next week for his appointment at Shriners, the MRI, and end of course 3 exam.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
