Friday's Blood Draw, Brace, and Colorado Avalanche!

Travis had blood drawn again this morning to see if he's in the target range for the increased rapamycin dose.  He did great with the blood draw and if he's in range this week, he'll have another blood draw next Friday.  At that time, they will draw a little more blood to check his liver and kidney function.  The CMP can be done in Cheyenne, we'll still send out the other for the rapamycin analysis.

We heard from Shriners this week and Travis' clamshell brace is ready.  That was quick!  We will pick that up when we head back to Salt Lake City for the next exam in early February.  It'll be interesting to see how he does with the brace, will bring along hockey socks so he can be a hockey player like his older brothers when he's wearing the brace. ;)

We received a copy of the Colorado Avalanche press release for Nolan this week.  Neurofibromatosis is mentioned in the press release, pretty cool!  That day will be so much fun for Nolan and the entire family and we are looking forward to this entire experience.  I put a copy of the press release below (the one we received has the Avs logo, but I haven't figured out how to put that on here)....

MEDIA ADVISORY

Cheyenne Capitals Youth Hockey Association Player to be Honored at Avalanche Game
Nolan Carpenter, of Cheyenne, will be recognized as the Avalanche Youth Skater prior to the Colorado Avalanche vs. Vancouver Canucks game on January 18th, 2011. Nolan will get to take the ice with the Avalanche and will be introduced in the starting line-up. Nolan plays hockey for the Cheyenne Capitals Youth Hockey Association, and was selected for this honor because of his outstanding citizenship and positive attitude.  As an active member in the community, Nolan is a leader in Cub Scout Bear Den Pack 221, an honor student at Pioneer Park Elementary school and is serving as an advocate for his younger brother who has Neurofibromatosis. The Youth Skater program was designed to recognize youth hockey players and provide an uplifting experience to those that have gone above and beyond in their community. This marks the first time that Cheyenne Capitals Youth Hockey Association has been represented in the Colorado Avalanche Youth Skater program.
