We received great news at Travis' orthopedic surgeon follow-up appointment on Friday. :) Travis' leg showed signs of healing from the femur fracture!! They are not seeing a big calcuim ball/area near the fracture, but the orthopedic surgeon said they see that when they do plate insertions to heal fractures. T's incision looks great and no sensitivity on his leg outside of the "normal" plexiform.

T and Dr. Jones discussing important items...
could T play floor hockey |
Travis asked the doctor questions he's had for the past few weeks...When can I play floor hockey? When can I go downstairs? When can I walk? All important questions. The best answer is that T basically has no restrictions other than "if-it-hurts-stop-doing-it". Travis walked around the house without his walker Friday evening stating "still not hurting". WIN!!!
Saturday morning brought the 4th Annual Utah NF Walk. The thunderstorms passed through in time to create beautiful weather for the NF Walk. Thank you to those who donated their time, thoughts, gifts, and well wishes. Team Travis reached our goal this year and the ultimate goal of having fun. :)

Many know this summer has been hard on our family with T's fracture, plus arson (house) and the 2nd degree felony (garage) committed by a juvenile. Long story made short, the individual was caught and is in custody for a long list of other charges. Our house was fine, but our A&M flag and flagpole attached to the house are gone. So...
"Carpenter Family, you concluded the #worstsummer by attending the Utah NF Walk...what are you going to do next? We're going to Disneyland!!! (We won this prize donation at the NF Walk)" We have until the end of June 2016 to use the 4 one-day park hopper tickets, the planning has started.
Thank you for all the prayers, thoughts, good vibes, and more. We are thrilled of T's femur fracture showing signs of healing. Travis returned to Peg-interferon injections Saturday night and the plan to minimize the side effects seems to help. We were told it would be like he was starting the medicine for the first time. He has been mentioning back pain more often the past few weeks, so hoping the injections will bring some relief.
Travis starts 2nd grade Monday morning (8/25) at our neighborhood school, pics and blog post will come soon.
