Quick Update

Fortunately, Travis continues to feel better as he heals from his femur fracture and surgery. :) He turned 7 in July and was enjoyed celebrating his birthday several times, Scott was an IMET at a wildfire in Oregon on T's actual birthday.
Happy 7th Birthday!
Travis saw his physical therapist last Friday as we wanted to make sure T was ok transitioning into and out of his power chair. While there, "Mr Mark" showed us some stretching activities that would be appropriate for T and the healing process. I spoke with the PT regarding T putting too much weight on his left leg, he said to contact the surgeon's office as each case can be different based on the individual's circumstances. (I spoke with the surgeon's office and while it was probably ok, we are to keep reminding Travis to limit weight-bearing on his left leg).

Travis has a follow-up appointment with Dr. Jones, orthopedic surgeon, on Fri, Aug 22nd and we should learn more how T's bone is healing. Once we know how the bone is healing, we'll be able to set a PT schedule and goal. We heard from the local geneticist that does lots of research with NF and bones that they were able to extract some DNA from the flakes they received during surgery. It'll be interesting to see if they are able to learn anything to help with NF research.

While on the topic of research, the 4th Annual Utah NF Walk will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at Sugar House Park. This money raised at this event will go to Children's Tumor Foundation (ctf.org) to go to #EndNF. Many family and friends supported Travis at the golf tournament, all those proceeds also went to CTF. Thank you for the continued prayers, thoughts, good vibes, support, etc.
