A Wonderful Racing Surprise

Our family received a gift at the end of November, a trip for 2 to the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona (a huge event for the Racing4Research program of the Children's Tumor Foundation). The past several years we have cheered on the Racing4Research team at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona both home and at a watch party, as well as attending events in Utah and Colorado.

Scott and I called our parents and siblings to see if they needed ideas for our family for Christmas...the trip was a great suggestion. ;) We decided to take a few extra days and go to Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center since we would be in Florida. We cashed in our hotel points and have NO hotel cost the entire trip. Thank you, moms, dads, brothers, and sisters for helping make this trip a reality where all 5 of us could attend and see some extra sights in Florida.

After securing flights and hotels, our next task was how to surprise Nolan, Barrett, and Travis. We decided to share the news with them on Christmas Day. We put sand, Porsche diecasts, airplane, CTF bracelet and Disney items into a wrapped box with pre-cut holes. The kids reached into the box through the holes and described what they felt: sand, puzzle pieces (Disney cutouts), cars, plane, CTF bracelet. They had to put together the clues (not seeing them) to see if they could figure out the surprise. They did great, I'm sure they thought mom and dad were really crazy at one point, and figured out it was a trip to Florida. Scott took great video of the happening this morning, now to figure out how to post the 6+ minutes on the blog. :)

Any suggestions for Disney World and Kennedy Space Center are greatly appreciated. Anyone know who we should contact regarding time at either with a special needs child or other info? At this point we are thinking of taking T's power chair. I've called the airline and have things squared away for T and the chair.

We hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishes for a Happy New Year!
