Shriner's Appointment

Travis had a regular appointment at Shriners yesterday morning, interesting mix of results.  They took x-rays of both tibias and we were able to get one of his hips and legs while standing.  :)  His knock-kneed has improved which is great news!  His fracture has healed nicely and we are very, very fortunate to have that result.  As the PA said, we dodged a bullet and multiple surgeries on that one.  Whew!  Thank you God!  Since he looks so good orthopedically, the PA will see him again in 6 months.  Yes!

I also asked the PA if Travis would qualify for Physical Therapy at Shriners and he said yes.  This is closer to our house and hopefully offset some of the costs associated with long-term medical care for Travis.  Travis has that evaluation in mid-November.

I talked with the PA about Travis' increased commenting that his leg hurts and not wanting to walk over the past few months.  Since T looks good orthopedically, the PA recommended that Travis see a Neurologist.  The PA spoke highly of the Neurologist and we scheduled an appointment with her later this month.  Travis' "tumor load" could be the cause for the not wanting to walk.  The PA said while behavior/attitude may play a small role in this recent change, he feels most of change is most likely related to all the difficulties that come with how much the tumor has infiltrated T's leg/hip.

While T's October MRI indicated no tumor progression, the radiologist noted a new finding with Travis that is not tumor related.  We're not really sure if this is an actual finding since none of the other doctors have mentioned this in all of Travis' medical exams where they check for this sort of thing.  The orthopedic PA wants Travis to see a Urologist to follow up on this.  We've also noticed a different, and unrelated, issue over the past week or so that would have T seeing a Urologist.  The PA will send over his notes from yesterday tp the Urologist's office and then we'll schedule an appointment.
