May Update...Golf Tourney and Cool Brace

We are having a blast as time is really flying. ;) Travis completes 1st grade in a little over a week...2nd grade already. The peg-interferon injections continue with no high fevers and T's energy level remains fairly high. Earlier in the month, T's interest in donuts after injection started to fade. He informed me he now wants toys, cars (go figure). After a short discussion, he thought Hot Wheels cars would work...bonus for us, they are the same cost as a donut. We stopped at the store and he picked out race cars and Porsches. :)

Saturday, May 17th brought the 1st Annual #EndNF with Travis golf tournament at The Ridge golf course in the Salt Lake Valley. Appropriately, World NF Awareness Day occurs on May 17th and 17 teams of golfers hit the course (including Dr Viskochil). Jill Beck, our fabulous Racing4Research Director, attended this event along with her 6 year old daughter. Travis enjoyed riding around in a golf cart, watching racing, taking pictures with each of the teams, hitting his blue ball with our kid-sized clubs, and more! Thank you Scott and Matt for ALL your hard work and dedication in organizing this event. So many companies donated prizes for the golfers and the smiles on the golfers' faces told us they had a great time. Nolan served as the judge for a "Closest to the Pin" for one hole and Barrett helped sell raffle tickets. They worked hard and had fun. :)

That night Travis and our family attended the Intermountain Region Porsche Club of America as their guests of honor. The club had a rally earlier in the day and included NF Camp (held in Salt Lake City for two, one week camps in July) as their fundraiser. Travis enjoyed viewing a variety of Porsches and he left with incredible Porsche swag, Nolan and Barrett too.
T loved the color of this Porsche
Travis received his new brace for his left leg on Friday, we all were eager to see what the final product would look like. The brace is better than anything we could have imagined, absolutely stunning!! Thank you Halston, Rick, Eric, and James for your help in putting this together.
"Art Car" brace
T loves his new brace. :)
The guys at Shriners made the front of this new brace out of carbon fiber, just like the car. Actually, they created the front out of prosthetic material.

Several times this month we've encountered something at Shriners where their professionals needed to innovate a creative solution to accommodate T's issues related to NF. They faced these challenges (pedal straps on new bike, putting "Art Car" on a brace) with an attitude that they could get it figured out to help a child. Watching Travis pedal his bike and seeing his new brace brought tears of joy to my eyes. Wow...we continue to be blessed and thank God for all He provides.
