Saturday's MRI

Saturday marked Travis' 14th MRI, his 12th at Primary Children's. I don't know if routine MRIs ever really become routine. Travis was glad to be back in the "Cars" room again this time.
Part of the pre-sedation checks in the "Cars" room
He looks so grown up in this picture.
Soon enough it was time to have his IV placed for the sedation. His hands were cold and the nurses put warming packs on them to help the veins appear. They have to do this at the lab when we are in for regular blood draws.
Travis not sure about the warm packs.
Travis decided he wanted to sit on the bed when the nurses started the IV, previously he's sat on my lap. He is getting so big. Even with the warm packs and light machine AND Travis holding still, it took 2 tries to get the IV placed. He is SO brave! Shortly after the IV was placed, he was back to playing on his iPad.
1st IV attempt
2nd IV attempt...success!
Back to fun on the iPad, racing of course.
After a little cartoon watching, it was time to head to the MRI area for sedation. Travis laid on the table for sedation for the first times. I think the days of him being sedated in my arms are passed. He noticed the MRI machine this time and couldn't believe he was going to be in there. We talked that when he's old enough to not need sedation, they have cool screens in the machines where he can watch a movie, even one from home. T thought that was pretty cool.
T checking out the MRI machine
Within 10 minutes Travis was asleep and it was time for the MRI.
Getting prepped to go in the MRI machine
Thought he would want to see a pic of him in the MRI machine.
The scans started around 9:20a and he was back in recovery by 10:35a. He was in a great sleeping pattern, I think he was comfortable enough with the sedation and soft bed that he likes. They gave him some IV fluids to help him recover easier and we got him up about 11:20a or so. He ate the 4 Oreos, drank some water, and needed convincing that he didn't need to go back to sleep.
So peaceful.
Eating Oreos in his sleep.
We arrived at the cafeteria at Primary's around noon and they were out of sprinkled donuts. We looked around and T spotted/settled for Fruit Loops.
Not a sprinkled donut.
Travis did great in the afternoon, I don't think he napped any more, and was ready to start getting ready for his birthday on Sunday. He and I made it to church Sunday morning and he got his sprinkled donut. :)

He has his 6 year old well-check appointment on Monday morning and his pediatrician should have the report from the local radiologist. Praying the news is good.
