Right before we left on vacation, we heard the Racing4Research team would run in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race in the Denver area the same weekend we planned to stay in Cheyenne. Travis thoroughly enjoyed the Racing4Research weekend in Utah in April, as we all did, so we decided to attend and cheer on Daniel Graeff and the entire No. 07 CTF Ford team. Throughout our vacation T asked, "Is today race day?", this event once again combined 2 of T's favorite items...racing and CTF. Travis quickly woke up Saturday morning knowing it was finally race day.
Racing4Research is a part of the Children's Tumor Foundation that raises NF awareness and funds for research. Daniel Graeff raced the No. 07 CTF Ford on Saturday and supports the efforts for CTF during many races throughout different racing circuits, including the 24 hours at Daytona. Thank you Daniel and team!
The names of all the NF Heroes attending this event were included on the car, we kept that as a surprise for Travis when he saw the car. Travis loved seeing his name on the car and the opportunity to write his name on the No. 07 CTF Ford as well.

We met with Jill Beck, the Racing4Research director, before qualifying and she led the NF Families on a tour in the garage area and to the CTF car. Even while we were waiting for the tour, Daniel Graeff came out to meet the NF Heroes and families knowing he would see us again on the tour. What an amazing person! Daniel signed CTF hats and shirts, spent time with the families before qualifying, and taking pictures.

After pictures and autographs, Daniel prepared for qualifying and the families had the opportunity to tour through Johnathan Gomez's car hauler. I think all the kids and adults were amazed at how they pack everything into a hauler and have the car on top.
We headed over to the grandstands and cheered on Daniel as he qualified for starting position. After qualifying we experienced watching "Figure 8" racing. The cars cross each other on the track without bridges, yes they have to watch out for cross traffic. After a few more races it was time for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race.

During the race the No. 07 CTF Ford experienced some motor issues (I think), but after a quick time in the pits, Daniel returned to the track passing other racers with great skill and speed. Unfortunately while waiting for a yellow to get to the pits (a feature of small track racing) took many more laps than we hoped. However, Daniel ran a great race and we are proud of him and the entire team.
After the conclusion of the race, all spectators were allowed to tour the garage and meet the drivers. The kids got a look at the car in the hauler and then the chance to talk with Daniel and the team one last time.

Another amazing Racing4Research experience for our family. We truly appreciate this program, Jill Beck, and all that the different drivers and teams do to support the efforts of the Children's Tumor Foundation. Travis concluded the night by giving Daniel a great big hug, T's favorite part was meeting and talking with Daniel. What an incredible opportunity.
Hopefully the results of Travis' latest volumetric MRI analysis will be ready this week. While we are praying for great news, we are also praying for continued strength if the news is the opposite of what we heard from Travis' MRI in April. Thank you for you continued prayers and support. This vacation provided many opportunities to renew my spirit and recharge for whatever lies ahead on our NF journey.
