Another Medical Professional in the Mix

We added another medical professional to Travis' team yesterday, an Occupational Therapist this time.  He connected with his OT and even got to see his prior Salt Lake City physical therapist in the hall (she was good, but Shriners is so much closer for PT).  His OT was able to get T to try new things and worked some on his balance, that will be important as we go through the OT sessions.  Currently he is set to see her every other week.  I don't think he'll need to see her for a long period of time like PT, but we'll see what time brings.

Travis also started working with an OT through school that will help him with fine motor skills, basically writing and using scissors.  The school evaluated him in December and noted that he has some strength "issues" in his hands.  Nothing too big and no one is overly concerned since he's only 4.5 yrs old, plus he'd rather play with cars than color and cut.  He has fun bringing home his maze pictures though.  :)

He continues to adjust to his new brace and is walking pretty good.  His physical therapist was able to help him work on pointing his left foot forward to walk.  We are working together to figure out the next stroller for T.  T has almost outgrown the stroller he has now.  We really like the Special Tomato brand, the buggy stroller really worked well for what we needed.

We're still in a holding pattern since T came off the trial.  We're hoping to meet with T's geneticist to ask questions about coming off the trial and our options from here.  Some questions we have aren't easy to ask and the removal from the trial came as a surprise.  There is a little sting that lingers when thinking of "compassion use" medicine for your 4 year old, at least we're not in the realm of last resort.

Thank you for all your prayers and support to our family.  January was a hard month with T being removed from the trial, being hospitalized, and my grandmother passing away.  Thankfully we had some wonderful memories in January with Barrett's birthday and the Racing4Research watch party.
