Cast Free!

Travis had a great appointment at Shriners today.  He didn't want his cast off when we got there; not sure if he liked the attention with it, he didn't like the vibration/sensation of the saw cutting through the cast, or something else.  He wanted to bring the cast home and was ready for lotion to help it feel better.  Shriners took 2 x-rays of his tibia and 2 x-rays of his femur.  The images showed that he is healing and the bone bruise on the tibia looks better too.  Praise God!  The PA showed me what the radiologist saw on the MR images concerning the femur, there was an area of healing.  While we're not sure what caused this, it looks good now and isn't bothering him.

Travis should wear his "fish boot"/brace/clamshell brace except when he's sleeping.  He can have baths, go swimming, all the fun stuff of summer.  :)  The PA said that Travis may not walk around as much the first few days without the cast, but that's normal.  He wants me to call him in 2 weeks after we speak with Dr. "V" on the MRI results to let him know how Travis is doing.  The MR images of his leg are pretty clear and the tumor is easily identified in the muscle.  The PA seemed pretty amazed on the size of the tumor and how it infiltrates the left side. Travis' next appointment at Shriners is in 3 months.  Yea!

Thank you for all your prayers and support.  Travis enjoyed his bath tonight, his first one in 7.5 weeks.  I'm thinking he'll love being able to sleep without a cast or boot.
