In his experience, he's noticed there are many shades of grey along the path of a tumor transformation and stepping in too early may cause additional problems down the line. He felt that it is not worthwhile to do a biopsy of Travis' tumor at this point in time, yet we are to remain observant to tumor changes, behavior changes, etc.
Dr. Randall commented on the recent growth of Travis' left leg. He stated that they may do surgery sooner to slow down the left leg growth...think the hare (left leg) is way outpacing the tortoise (right leg) and may need some additional help to slow down. He also stated to the other doctor with him that they do not want to do the surgery to break Travis' femur and pin it in place to help fix the hip and leg length discrepancy.
Dr. Randall will follow up with Travis in 6 months and get more x-rays at that time. He also briefly talked with us about things to think about when considering medicine to help slow tumor growth, stuff we've already thought of before and now. The drs here have a feel from things went wrong when they were trying to help and learned from that experience.
We finally heard from oncology, Travis has an appointment from Dr. Afify on Mon, Jan 6th. We're interested to hear what she has to say about the different clinical trial medicines and how they affect the body.
Some fun pics from Christmas and my mom being in town for my birthday and Christmas.
