Another MRI completed early Tuesday morning (his 9th at Primary's in just under 2 years) and Travis continued to amaze us all with his bravery with the IV. One of several benefits for a 6a MRI includes close parking at Primary's and a quiet MRI and waiting area. Dr. Viskochil wanted to check Travis' blood level to see how his body adjusted to being off the rapamycin, especially triglycerides. This meant a 12 hour fast for Travis, another benefit of the 6a MRI since most of the fasting occurs overnight.
The height measurements, while not precise, indicated T's left leg is ~3inches longer than his right leg, previously it was 2 inches. Fortunately, Travis has his regular orthopedic appointment in 4 weeks at Shriners and we can get more accurate discrepancy numbers. Travis picks the "Cars" MRI prep room each time he goes in for his MRI, most of the time he asks me to request that room when Primary's calls to go over his medical history.

He wanted to watch the nurses put in the "big poke" (IV). They told him he could say "Owie" when the needle went in, but he needed to stay still. He sat really still during the process on my lap and when he started to tense up, we told him he could saw "Owie". He did, quietly. He commented that he wasn't really brave since he said "Owie". We told him he was super brave since he held still and he could be super brave and still say "Owie". He doesn't realize he's one of the bravest people I've ever met.
The MRI took 1.5 hrs, they had to redo one scan again this time. He woke up really good in recovery, ate 4 Oreos, drank some water, and we headed out to go get his donut and then home.

Travis spent a few hours at home resting and then it was time to go to Shriners. We dropped of the MRI CDs to T's research coordinator on our way for her to send off for the volumetric analysis. Travis loves his power chair. He remembered how to climb into the power chair making sure not to push down on the joystick controller. Although he was still groggy, he did good maneuvering the power chair around Shriners.

We meet with Travis' teacher this afternoon for parent-teacher conference (Nolan and Barrett's teachers today too). I'm interested to hear how he's doing in Kindergarten, he was happy to be back with his friends today.
The wait for the MRI volumetric analysis begins...sometimes as short as a week and other times as long as 4 weeks. *sigh* We are very fortunate to have this analysis done on Travis' MRI scans. I will be in touch with Dr. Viskochil by the end of the week to see how his blood work turned out and if there was anything on the MRI noted by the local radiologists.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support for Travis and our family. God continues to hold Travis in His hands and guide us to the best medical path for Travis.
Glad to hear all is going well. Sara would be so jealous of his new chair!
